Surveying and Inspections
Understanding the scope and condition of your site assets is both a regulatory requirement, and operational best-practice. Surveying and Inspection are a fundamental component of Metcor Environmental’s maintenance-led approach. By providing detailed asset plans and condition assessments, both our clients and our engineering teams can better understand how to enhance site infrastructure.
Metcor Environmental provides a range of surveying solutions, delivered by specialist teams, to create detailed and high-quality connectivity plans and condition reports which drive compliance with ISO 14001 and regulatory guidance.
Drainage Mapping
For decades, Metcor Environmental has been at the forefront of the commercial drainage industry when it comes to creating high-quality drainage connectivity plans. Drainage plans have been made an explicit requirement under the UK Government’s Pollution Prevention Guidelines (PPG) for Business, and are also mandated for compliance with ISO 14001, the internationally recognized standard for environmental quality.
At Metcor Environmental, plans are included as standard in any PPM contract at no extra cost. We employ dedicated drainage surveyors to carry out these assessments. They will lift every accessible manhole cover on site to identify key drainage lines and assets. Our teams carry specialist heavy-lift and tracing equipment to facilitate a thorough inspection.
Once the survey is complete, our surveys relay their inspections back to our in-house CAD team. Working to our proprietary designs which optimize clarity and precision, clients will then receive a detailed, multi-layered plan detailing all wastewater flows and assets on site. This provides a critical tool for client compliance, as well as a vital aid for our engineers on site.
SFG20 Inspections
Many facilities managers work to the SFG20 standards for maintenance. While these guidelines are not appropriate for many drainage systems, they provide a helpful framework, particularly where budgets are constrained and an inspection-led approach is preferred.
Using a combination of the latest camera equipment, tracing, and high-quality evidential reporting, our inspection teams will investigate and report on all drainage infrastructure within the specifications of SFG20. Any more intensive cleaning or remediation work will be flagged as part of this inspection, and further visits can be recommended.
CCTV Surveys
CCTV surveys use specialist camera equipment to record defects in the condition of drainage pipework. Equally useful in internal stacks or external below-ground settings, CCTV surveys can identify cracks and collapses, root ingress, and excessive scale build-up.
CCTV Surveys are crucial when standard techniques for removing blockages are not effective. They are also often required on the acquisition or disposal of a property. In any case, dedicated teams will establish the required access points on a drainage plan, and then conduct a survey in sections, working methodically on site.
This survey is then collated into a highly-detailed report, which contains video footage, and comprehensive coding of the pipework condition, metre by metre. All defects are flagged, and recommendations for further works submitted. These may include no-dig repairs, excavations, root-cutting, or additional high-intensity descaling.
